Production Description

Casting for music video/art film for successful experimental pop/R&B musician. The video is a high-definition cinematic portrayal of a virtual high-society event. An upscale art benefit party is transformed into an unreal ballet of sorts: from the immaculate preparation rituals of the servers, to the exaggerated movements of the art handlers, and eventually the mannerisms and gestures of the guests. Different types of characters have their unique, limited ways of moving through the space, in a structured, geometric choreography: a visual meditation on uniformity, propriety, and societal rituals. Each character type will be governed entirely by specific physical rules, similar to that of video game avatars.

The one exception to these physical limitations is the artist (omitted) who appears in the video as a piano player, and is distinguished from the rest of the guests by his freedom of movement and his ability to act naturally and humanly. He contrasts the rigid world around him by soulfully playing the piano and occasionally interacting with the partygoers. It becomes clear that this structured, uptight world of limitation is a construct in his mind, and the ultimate expression of his social anxiety.
