Michael Herrman, benefit producer

Production Description

Seeking staff for a music concert benefiting Rock School Kabul. The benefit show and silent auction will raise money and instrument donations to be sent to Afghanistan. Coordinator states: "Portland musician Michael Herrman recently returned from a trip teaching students in Kabul, Afghanistan to do something rare and extraordinary - play rock and roll music. Inspired by this experience, he has set off to continue to help the school from here in the States by gathering musicians and friends together to perform as well as to donate much needed instruments. Herrman's experience has left him 'Wanting people to see the positive that's happening in Afghanistan. It's incredible to see The Afghan kids who love Led Zeppelin and Metallica come to the school and really shred. Nevertheless, it's still dangerous for them to be seen carrying guitars, so it's important for the school to have enough instruments to share.'"

Benefit concert will be held Aug. 12, 8 p.m., at Rockwell Table and Stage in Los Feliz, CA.
