Angie (41) - Single, African American career woman who works as a female empowerment coach and motivational speaker. Has a self-absorbed and self-inflated view of her own reality. Also has an unspoken co-dependent relationship with her younger sister, Melodie, a struggling artist who is constantly sponging off her sister’s success.
Nadine - (38) Single, African American woman. The church-goer of the group. Believes that God will supply all of her needs--a better-paying job, bigger apartment and faith-filled man. Yet the lack of prospects has her going through a depression that she refuses to acknowledge for fear that it will make her less than a Christian. She puts up a good front, but she’s starting to wonder, maybe this whole faith thing isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Melodie - (38) Nadine’s twin sister. African American woman. Flighty, whimsical, eccentric and unsuccessful visual artist. She is also the most irresponsible one of the group. Very passionate, she has sacrificed everything for her art, only for her to now be in her 40s and living with her sister, Angie. While she is getting weary of the uncertainty of her life, she fights to keep her passion alive and active.
Karen - (almost 40) Married, African American woman of 15 years who is at the end of her rope. She has been a stay-at-home mom throughout the course of her marriage and is now realizing that this life is not fulfilling her. She is coming to grips with the mundane reality of her life, and is now contemplating divorce.
