Production Description

Afrikan Womans Repertory is casting its Spring Festival of One Act Plays. Festival includes: "Womens Usher Board," in wich a woman marries a very ambitious reverend and the sisters at the church want to know more about her (they will find out when her mother comes); "Love," ("love has many faces but she is just looking for one"); "I'm Sorry" ("it was a sunny day, she went to work, her daughter went to school... only one came back alive"); "The Senator," about a woman who wants to become the first black senator; "Black Men Don't Talk But their Women Do" ("while they talk the stories began to sound familiar"); "Harriet," in which one Harriet is committed to rescuing her people from slavery and another is committed to teenagers (she wants them to survive) and which poses the scenario, "How about if they meet?"; "Bullets Ain't Got No Name" ("everyone sees she loves her youngest son more than life... even her oldest son"); "Welcome to Betsy's R&B" ("she plays the music while her listeners live it"); "Spade Game," in which four mothers and four daughters come together during a spade game ("sometimes a friendly game brings back bad memories"); "Southern Belle," in which Queenie disrupts the peaceful times before a ball in a southern town; "Bus Stop," in which one woman is a thief, one woman a murderer, and one woman a prostitute; and "The Train," in which two women plan their husband's murder.

Rehearsal and Production Dates & Locations

Rehearses March 9-April 14; runs April 15-21 at the Producers Club in NYC.

Compensation & Union Contract Details

Actors can make $5 for every ticket they sell.
