Production Description

Casting Stage One 2014-15 season. Season includes: "Petite Rouge: A Cajun Red Riding Hood" (Rehearsals begin Sept. 16, 2014; runs Oc. 10-Nov. 1, 2014), "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" (Rehearsals begin Nov. 4, 2014; runs Nov. 24-Dec. 20, 2014), "In This Corner...Cassius Clay, Jr." (Rehearsals begin Dec. 29, 2014; runs Jan. 19-Feb. 20, 2015), and "Lily's Purple Plastic Purse" (Rehearsals begin Apr. 7, 2015; runs Apr. 27-May 16, 2015).

Season rehearses and performs in Louisville, KY.

Compensation & Union Contract Details

Pays: $461/wk. Equity TYA Contract.

Crayfish – Female Soprano, Character actor able to play a multiple of roles
Turtle – Female Alto, Character actor able to play a variety of roles
Frog – Male Bass/Baritone, Character actor able to play a variety of roles

Bob Bradley/Fireman - Male character actor; 30's-40's
Grace Bradley - Female lead; 30's-40's
Helen Armstrong/Reverend Hopkins - An overbearing church lady; older female character actor
Edna McCarthy - Patronizing church lady; older female character actor
Irma Slocum - Gossiping church lady; older female character actor

Cassius Clay Jr. – African American male 20’s actor-combatant, athletic to play Clay as a young teen 12-18. While not a caricature of Muhammad Ali, he will be expected to have similar vocal patterns as Ali.
Eddie – African American male 20’s to play Clay’s friend Eddie as a young teen 12-18. Eddie is strong-willed and becomes active in the civil rights movement (He will also play Harlem Soapbox Young Man).
Ensemble 1 - White male 30’s plays Joe Martin (Police officer and Clay’s trainer), Mayor of Louisville, crowd scenes
Ensemble 2 - African American male 30’s plays Fred Stoner (boxing trainer), Cassius Clay Sr. (Cassius’ Father), Sugar Ray Robinson (flashy middle-weight champ and hero of Cassius)
Ensemble 3 - African American Female, 30s-Odessa Clay (Cassius’ mother) Photographer, Foreign reporters, Neighborhood voice
Ensemble 4 - White Female 20s-30s, Diner waitress, Foreign reporters, other small roles
Ensemble 5 - African American male 20’s-30’s actor-combatant/character actor to play Corky Baker (neighborhood bully) and other small roles
Ensemble 6 - White male 20’s-30’s actor-combatant/character actor to play to play Zbigniew Pietrzykowski (Polish Boxer Clay fight’s in the Olympic Gold Medal match), Diner Manager, Diner bully and other small roles

Lilly – Female 20’s-30’s, small, young, excellent comic timing, endurance and spunk – never leaves the stage
