Duchess Emelda Jeffries and Lord Dinby - The Duchess Tells Lord Dinby about his next assignment
LD: Hello, Duchess, are you there?
DEJ: Hello, Lord Dinby, a pleasure to see you.
LD: Yes indeed, you look younger than ever, Duchess. I must say.
DEJ: And you look ever more distinguished, Lord Dinby. Tell me, what news of the Maharaja?
LD: Ah, well, the old chat tried to have us killed, tempted poor Huxley with dancing ladies, and did his best to throw us off the scent of Xand, but we got the better of him. He knows who is betters are now, I dare say.
DEJ: That is wonderful news, Lord Dinby. Her Majesty will be pleased, I'm certain of it. I'm sure you must be very tired from your adventures.
LD: Oh, nothing a wink or two won't cure. I am here to serve!
DEJ: That is reassuring to hear, for the Empire is in dire need, Lord Dinby. It seems that a man by the name of General Calabast has gone rogue from Her Majesty's service. He has absconded with two battalions of crack riflemen somewhere in the Gorth sector.
LD: The Gorth Sector, you say?
DEJ: Yes, and you know how unstable things are in the Gorth Sector, Lord Dinby. Her Majesty's faithful servants have been wrestling for years with the natives there, and the last thing she needs is two of her own battalions making things a sight harder than they already are.
LD: Quite! Tell me what needs to be done!
DEJ: Her Majesty needs you to track down this General Calabast and discover what his plans are. Perhaps it is all a misunderstanding, some secret mission in service of Her Majesty that he was unable to communicate.
LD: And if it is not?
DEJ: Recover the battalions, and bring the General back to meet the Royal Mercy. Her Majesty is relying on you once again, Lord Dinby.
