Production Description

Casting Shakespeare's "The Comedy of Errors." Note: This production will be set in the Harlem Renaissance. Characters are being cast as African-American and people of color. Seeking actors with extremely strong language skills and an affinity for comedy, humor and warmth. Must have excellent comic timing and facility for both character and narrative based comedy as well as somewhat more extended physical comedy (Clown and commedia background welcome but not essential).
The combined ensemble of actors must believably manifest a sense of community and evoke the energy, the world and the rhythm of the Harlem Renaissance as it might be seen by two young men, Dromio and Antipholus who’ve migrated up north for a better life in Harlem, once known as Ephesus. Singing, dancing, acrobatics, jump rope/double Dutch, juggling and tumbling skills all welcome.
