Production Description

Casting "The Great Society." Thrust by the assassination of John F. Kennedy into the office he always wanted, Lyndon B. Johnson cajoles, seduces, and strong arms senators into ending segregation and waging war on poverty. With the U.S. entangled in Vietnam, Johnson walks a tightrope, standing tall enough to protect himself from charges of weakness, but preventing the war from consuming his Great Society. Producer states: "Our co-producer Albert Podell's recent Broadway credits include 'Chinglish,' 'Evita' and 'Matilda.' He is also one the producers of 'Silence! The Musical.' We are using this trial run as a springboard into an Off-Broadway or Broadway run."
