Production Description

Casting "The Last Ferryman." Synopsis: "The Last Ferryman is a musical theater piece built around the stories, historical accounts, both written and oral, and controversies surrounding the construction of the Deer Isle-Sedgwick Bridge in 1939, which connected Deer Isle and Little Deer Isle to the mainland. The events were rife with drama at both personal and political levels and marked a huge cultural change in the life of the Island. The book and libretto take much of their material from the journalism of the period and business boosterism, which lauded ‘progress’ over all, and is counter-posed, after Shakespeare, with a vernacular for local islanders."
