Production Description

Casting actors for the staged reading of the ten-minute play, "The Last of the Blacksmiths," by Claire Gebben. Project description: "Casting actors for a staged reading of a local author's book launch. The play is a chapter from the novel, ‘Last of the Blacksmiths,' by Claire Gebben, adapted for performance. Michael Harm is a farmer's son in the Bavarian Rhineland who dreams of excitement and freedom--the sort of life enjoyed by Uncas, the hero in his favorite novel, 'The Last of the Mohicans.' Every day Michael toils beside his brother in the vineyards wishing he could be a blacksmith, a singer, or an adventurer. Michael encounters Herr Franck, leader of the Liedmeister band, and tries to convince his family, namely his father, Herr Harm, to permit him to work for the band leader, learn to sing, and potentially travel the world alongside the band."
