Ibchen Hallas Casting
David Goldberger, Producer

Production Description

Casting "The March of Ibchen Hallas," a short film based on a true story from the First World War. Synopsis: Ibchen, a Jewish soldier fighting for the Austro-Hungarian Empire, is isolated from his company in the heat of battle. He encounters an enemy Russian soldier in close quarters. Ibchen subdues the Russian and strangles him. In his dying breath, the Russian utters the "Shema," the holiest Jewish prayer which Jews are commanded to say as their last words. Ibchen killed the man even though he was a fellow Jew. He never recovered from the crippling guilt of killing one of his own.
