Synopsis

After years as a political “fix-it” man for congressional leaders and the White House, Matty Matthews finds himself alone, camping out in a Washington office building where he has access to a desk, a telephone, and a conference room. With little else in his life, he spends many nights on a couch in the lounge area of the men’s room. Matty is a friendly, gregarious guy, who gets things done with a smile and a story. To his surprise, two young new tenants, Willy and Jerry, show up one morning in the men’s room where Matty is sleeping. As Matty, Willy, and Jerry chat about their respective businesses, they reveal that they are all looking for something just beyond their grasp, but they jump into action at any opportunity. Later that day, in a conference room that the three men share, Matty’s old friend Mike stops by for a favor: set up a meeting with a member of the House Appropriations Committee. As he does this, Matty meets Margo, a small-time lobbyist, and displays his well honed skill of eking “contributions” for one of his friends in Congress. Meanwhile, Willy and Jerry con Matty into thinking they can help him establish his life-long dream, the Matty Matthews Foundation. This conflict among values, ethics, and world views holds many surprises.
