Production Description

Casting "The Megile of Itzik Manger," to be presented as part of the National Yiddish Theatre's 2013-14 season. "The Megile of Itzik Manger" is a modern musical retelling of the biblical story of the Book of Esther, which is associated with the Jewish holiday Purim. The Purim Shpiel is traditionally a very lively and colorful theatrical celebration and is the root of the modern Yiddish Theater. Producer states: "The cast of 9 (5 men and 4 women) requires versatile actors who are excellent singers and move well. This performance will be presented entirely in Yiddish. Puppetry, masque, commedia, and circus skills (including juggling and silks) a plus. Each actor will portray several ensemble roles with an age range from child to elders. There are principal roles which will be portrayed by ensemble members.
