Role Description

Bryson: (Lead) An automobile mechanic who lives in the suburbs of Long Island. His is a crisis of middle-age, when a man looks back upon his life and sees a betrayal of his boyhood dreams - knowing that there isn't much time left to make those dreams a reality. For Bryson, the thrill of being desired by a younger man is a narcotic; an escape from feeling old, a reprieve of being himself. Like many single people his age, Bryson Jones thinks he's looking for the ever-elusive relationship, but deep down he stopped believing in the whole romantic notion of finding his soul mate a long time ago. While he goes on the occasional date, he does so with the dim expectations of a well insulated heart, preferring the seedy, slightly less than commercial encounter of an online hook-up.

Production Description

Mirror Matter Movies is casting "Trouble with Dreams," a feature-length film. Producer states: "An internet hook-up. Forbidden desire. Two lives in crisis. 'Trouble with Dreams' is an edgy character-driven gay-themed drama that takes a point-blank look at the inter-generational hookup scene. At the very start the screenplay for 'Trouble with Dreams' grabs the reader by the throat and squeezes hard, never loosening its grip. From the opening image of Bryson's sleazy profile page on Daddy-Search.com all the way to where he meets Mahlik, an emotional intensity builds that is rare in gay cinema. This film is an in-depth character study which, by extension, means that it is an actor's piece. The producers are not looking for actors to come in and read their lines--they're looking for collaborators who will bring something more to these characters than what is in the script."
