EXT SCENE GOING INTO INT SCENE - Nightime

ACTION – John walks into the front door of the house and proceeds to go into the kitchen. (Camera will follow John during entire scene). One take.

ELIZABETH
Where the hell have you been!!

JOHN
Whoa slow down what do you mean?

ELIZABETH
I mean where did you go!?

JOHN
I told you I was going for a walk. What’s your problem?

ELIZABETH
For 6 fucking hours?!

JOHN
6 hours? What are you talking about!? I walked like a mile and then straight back.

ELIZABETH
A mile and back doesn’t take 6 hours.

JOHN
No shit Elizabeth, I wasn’t gone that long, that doesn’t make any sense.

ELIZABETH
Why didn’t you answer your phone? I called you several times. It went straight to voicemail.

JOHN
Look, I didn’t get any missed calls or any calls while I was gone. I don’t have an explanation. I didn’t look at the time. I remember it was light out but that’s about it. I’m telling you the truth.

ELIZABETH
I don’t know what to think. It doesn’t make sense. I don’t what to say.

JOHN
I’m sorry, I wish I could tell you more but I’m just as confused. It’s like I lost time or something.

ELIZABETH
Whatever, I don’t want to argue about it. I waited to eat dinner but it got late so I ate without you. There’s leftovers in the fridge.

JOHN
I’m not really hungry.

ELIZABETH
You need to eat something, you haven’t eaten in hours.

ACTION – Elizabeth get’s leftovers from the fridge and heats it up on a plate. John is sitting quietly at the table and looks at his finger that was pricked by the cross (it has a drop of blood on it).

ELIZABETH
Here you go. This is all you need.

ACTION – Elizabeth sets the dinner plate down but it has nothing but the cross and a bloody knife on it. John see’s it and jumps back very frightened. He then looks at Elizabeth.

ELIZABETH
John! What’s wrong?

JOHN
What are you up to!? How did you....

ACTION – John looks back down at the plate and it’s the leftover food Elizabeth cooked.

ELIZABETH
It’s just leftovers I made tonight. What’s with you? Just eat something you’re acting really weird.

JOHN
I thought I.....saw something.

ELIZABETH
Saw what!? You’ve said that several times since yesterday. I don’t know what’s going on with you. Just eat please.

ACTION – John attempts to eat, and immediately spits/throws it up. Elizabeth shakes her head and walks away. John tries to eat again and immediately spits/throws it up. Elizabeth comes back with some water. He sips on it slowly.

JOHN
I can’t eat. I can’t keep it down. My throat and stomach are really tight.

ELIZABETH
Then you need to go to the doctor.

JOHN
I’m sure it’s nothing. Maybe I’m sick to my stomach. I can get liquids down at least.

ELIZABETH
I’m going to bed, you do whatever you want.

ACTION – Elizabeth leaves the room, John cleans up his mess and walks over to the kitchen sink with his dishes.

JOHN
Fuck!

ACTION – John pulls his hand back quickly from the water and looks at it. He burned his hand, the water was extremely hot. He then turns the water to a cooler temperature and washes the dishes. He grabs a beer from the fridge, uses it to cool his hand then opens it.

Scene 2 For Auditions

ACTION – CAMERA – John is wearing pajamas and standing over/behind Elizabeth (Audience scare).

JOHN
How’s your mom? (very monotone sounding)

ELIZABETH
Shit John!

ACTION – Elizabeth frightened turns around to find him creeping over her.

ELIZABETH
I didn’t hear you get out of the tub. Are you ok?

JOHN
Sure. I’m fantastic (says sarcastically). So you didn’t hear anything from the tub huh? (skeptic sounding).

ELIZABETH
No, but I wasn’t paying attention. What are those marks on your arm?

ACTION – Elizabeth points and touches John’s biceps that have reddish looking finger marks (from where he was held down).

JOHN
Somebody held me under the water by my arms and I almost drown. I was screaming which you of course supposedly didn’t hear.

ELIZABETH
Somebody? Somebody who? There’s no one here and I would have heard you scream.

JOHN
Then maybe something, not someone.

ELIZABETH
Ok John you’re really tripping out now and scaring me. Are you saying someone is in the house and broke in?

ACTION – The bathroom door slams shut back and forth twice. Elizabeth looks terrified and jumps behind John grabbing on to him for safety.

ELIZABETH
What the hell was that!? I’m freaking out. John what do we.....

JOHN
Stay here let me see, I’m sure it was the wind or something.

ACTION – Elizabeth backs herself into a corner frightened and shaking. John slowly walks over to the door. He slowly opens the door, walks in keeping the door open. He pulls out the cross and holds it in his right hand and stares in the mirror.

JOHN
Hello, do you have a plan for me? (scary possessed sounding whisper).

ACTION – (All very slow action here). John’s left finger starts bleeding. He looks down at it, looks back up in the mirror, then takes it and runs it across his neck making a bloody line.

JOHN
Thank you (whisper).

ACTION – John put’s the cross back in his pocket and walks out of the bathroom towards Elizabeth.

ELIZABETH
John you’re bleeding!

ACTION – Elizabeth rushes over to John and holds his neck. She then starts to look and see’s the blood is not coming from his neck.

ELIZABETH
Your neck isn’t bleeding why do you have blood on your neck?

ACTION – Elizabeth looks down and see’s the blood is coming from his finger.

ELIZABETH
Your finger is bleeding. How is your finger.....wait, is that the same finger you pricked on that cross the other day?

JOHN
I don’t know, I guess.

ELIZABETH
It just happened a couple days ago can’t you remember?

JOHN
No my memory is fuzzy but yea I’m pretty sure it is.

ELIZABETH
Ugh. Stay here I’m going to get a towel.

ACTION - Elizabeth leaves and comes back with a towel and wipes his neck clean and then wipes off his hand.

ELIZABETH
That was a lot of blood. I don’t see any cut or prick on your finger though.

ACTION – Camera comes in close to show hands clean and smooth, no blood, no prick.

ELIZABETH
So where did all the blood come from? Your neck and hands are completely fine. I’m glad you’re not cut, but now it doesn’t make sense.

ACTION – Bathroom door slams shut. Elizabeth jumps and is frightened then looks intensely at the door. She slowly walks over and opens the door very slowly.(squeaky door) CAMERA – Close up of terrified shaking Elizabeth.

ACTION – Elizabeth walks away from the door.

JOHN
Must be a breeze (Sarcastic joking sound).

ELIZABETH
That’s no breeze honey. I can’t tell you what it is, but it’s not that.

JOHN
Just let it be, it will all be over soon (creepy sounding).

ELIZABETH
What is that supposed to mean?

JOHN
Nothing.

ELIZABETH
Well I don’t like it, and I don’t feel safe. Tomorrow I’m going to look into a security system for the house.

JOHN
A security system can’t help me (creepy sounding).

ELIZABETH
You mean us...help us.

JOHN
I think you might be ok though.

ELIZABETH
What the hell are you talking about?

JOHN
Huh? What?

ELIZABETH
You! What are you talking about? Are you even present in this conversation!?

JOHN
My hand, yes I know you said I pricked it on the cross but you don’t see a cut.

ACTION – John looks at his finger and shows it to Elizabeth.

ELIZABETH
John! That conversation is over. We were just talking about something completely different! What’s wrong with you!?

ACTION – Elizabeth get’s frustrated and walks out of the room. John walks over to the kitchen and pours himself a drink. He takes a shot of clear alcohol and immediately starts gagging and choking. He spits and throws up black liquid into the sink. He then breathes heavy over the sink as though he’s trying to calm down.

ACTION – John walks over to the dinner table, sits down, pulls out the cross and set’s it on the table directly in front of him a couple feet away. The cross slides back over to John. He set’s it back to where it was and it slides back to him again.
