Production Description

Casting “White Noise,” a play which had its world premiere in Washington D.C. in June 2012. The play follows an African-American painter who has developed a "ministry of the arts," and has been brought out to Detroit for an exhibit and talk. His hosts, an older, white, liberal church group, turn out to be a bizarre mix of stereotypical, sexually promiscuous and mystically ethereal. In any case, the activity tweaks at our protagonist’s interior demons and we discover that although he has developed quite a following he is, on the inside, hollow and perverse. His "mentor and tormentor" is the sexualized specter of the 20th century prophet, Simone Weil, who has emerged as a figment of his imagination.
