NYC rehearsals begin June 9; Williamstown rehearsals begin June 17; runs July 2-13 on the Main Stage); "Living on Love" (Joe DiPietro & Garson Kanin, writers; based on the play by Garson Kanin; Kathleen Marshall, dir. Williamstown rehearsals begin June 24; runs July 16-26 on the Main Stage); "The Visit" (Terrence McNally, book; John Kander, music; Fred Ebb, lyrics; based on the play by Friedrich Durrenmatt; John Doyle, dir.; Graciela Daniele, choreo. NYC rehearsals begin June 30; Williamstown rehearsals begin July 15; runs July 31-Aug. 17 on the Main Stage); "A Great Wilderness" (Samuel D. Hunter, writer; director TBD. Williamstown rehearsals begin June 17; runs July 9-20 on the Nikos Stage); and "The Old Man and the Old Moon" (PigPen Theatre Co., writer; Stuart Carden & PigPen Theatre Co., dirs. JUNE MOON

Seeking:

FRED M. STEVENS:
20-30. A young lyricist from Schenectady aspiring to become a Tin Pan Alley notable; almost willfully dim-witted in matters of love; good looking, polite, and eager for life but has a bit of misplaced confidence.

EDNA BAKER:
20-30. A dental assistant; a sweet young thing; her mind is shrewdly working even when she seems naïve. An attractive and ingenious little schemer.

LUCILLE:
30-40. Paul’s grimly wisecracking wife who expected more from life than she has been given. Ex-showgirl / dancer who has let herself go due to lack of success / money. Juicy, pretty, older, funny, New York.

EILEEN:
30-40. the glamorous and conniving sister-in-law of Paul. Bright and witty.

MAXIE:
30-40, Jewish. the publisher’s sage pianist who’s full of one-liners. Must play piano.

GOLDIE:
40-50. Mr. Hart’s disillusioned secretary. A broad. Wisecracking and smart.

A WINDOW CLEANER:
at the music company. Plays piano.

BENNY FOX:
an aspiring songwriter with a whole lot of gumption.

MR. HART:
40-50. a song producer who can make or break careers.

MISS RIXEY:
20-30. Mr. Hart’s latest sexy mistress.

IRIS PEABODY:
25–35. An intelligent and ambitious young career woman with a quirky appeal. She is an Assistant Junior Editor at Little Brown Publishing and is easily flustered in times of stress and pressure.

BRUCE:
60’s or older. Former opera performer turned butler/servant. Piano player a plus. Part of a Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum pair with ERIC. They are their own act. Singers a plus.

OTTILE:
20-30s. The daughter of Anton and Matilde, who quickly gets caught up in the quest for social mobility. Soprano (B to A)

PETER DUMMERMUT:
50s – 60s. The town’s slippery mayor who will do anything to stay elected. Husband of Annie Dummermut. Tenor (Bb to Ab)

ANNIE DUMMERMUT:
40s -50s. The mayor’s wife. Sings in the ensemble. Could be Soprano or Alto

FATHER JOSEF:
50s-60s. The town priest. Baritone (A to E)

FREDERICH KUHN:
40s – 50s. The schoolmaster. A humanist, humanitarian, and intellectual, who has remained in the town because he hopes that it will turn around some day. Although he’s able to diagnose the townspeople’s faults, he’s unable to right them. Bari-Tenor (B to F#)

HANS NUSSELIN:
40s – 50s. The town’s doctor, who initially opposes Claire’s terms but eventually plays along. Tenor (C to G)

OTOO HAHNKE:
40+. The policeman. Baritone (A to E)

A GREAT WILDERNESS

seeking:

WALT:
Mid-70s. The gentle-natured, well-intentioned head counselor of a decades-old Christian conversion therapy program for gay teens in the remote Idaho wilderness. Former husband of Abby. He shows early signs of dementia, and is on the verge of a crisis of faith.

DANIEL:
18+ to play 16. Fragile, thin, wary, gay. Not well-equipped to handle the rugged terrain of the Idaho wilderness. The son of an evangelical preacher, he's been through multiple conversion therapy programs already.



ABBY:
Mid-to-late 60s. Walt's ex-wife, now married to Tim. Former counselor at the conversion therapy program. A devout Christian from northern Idaho. Self-assured, she walks a thin line between being charming and annoying.

TIM: Mid-to-late 60s. Abby's husband. A lawyer from northern Idaho and a counselor during summers at the conversion therapy camp. Warm and level-headed, he's always looked up to Walt for guidance.



EUNICE:
Late 30s or early 40s. Daniel's mother, and the wife of a well-respected preacher in the Idahoan evangelical community. She's at a breaking point both in her family life and her spiritual life.

JANET:
Late 40s or early 50s. A crusty, fun, self-assured park ranger, who adheres to a "live and let live" mantra. She's always in control of the situation even when it seems like she isn't.
