Role Description

Pete/Ran Feng/DJ Happy: Pete, Sunny’s brother, a dreamer forced to carry the burden of being the male heir, begins the play as a rambunctious, earnest pre-teen in the Chinese countryside, as he grows up and his dream of becoming an actor curdles, he is scruffy, moody, and self-centered, shouldn't have leading man looks, but needs to have physical agility; Ran Feng, a coal miner, lecherous - a Chinese Danny Zuko, a self-styled swaggering lothario; DJ Happy, Mr. Destiny's sidekick, energetic, mad-cap, gets the crowd amped up and excited, then leads them through all their reactions -- chanting, boos, cheers, might also dance.
