1. Brian De Palma helped cast “A New Hope”

De Palma was in pre-production for “Carrie” at the same time that his friend George Lucas was prepping the first film in the “Star Wars” series. The two filmmakers decided to hold joint casting sessions, deciding together which actors would be right for each other’s film.
