1. “Spider-Man: Turn of the Dark”

When—eventually—“Spider-Man” opened, it wasn’t about the story anymore; it was about seeing if anyone was going to fall from the sky. Literally. Like a page taken from the comic book itself, this show seemed to be doomed from the start: injured actors, a fired director, and multiple postponed openings. Alan Cummings and Evan Rachel Wood left the production after an early postponement of the show, and Natalie Mendoza gave up her role of Arachne due to an injury. (She was one of many actors who were seriously injured during previews.) The bad press surrounding the production has brought lawsuits and Actor’s Equity Association investigations.
