4. “American Idiot”

Almost like the perfect precursor to the Occupy Wall Street generation, “American Idiot” is the angry, angst-ridden musical featuring the rock songs and ballads of Green Day taken from the concept album of the same name. The musical, which opened on Broadway in April 2010 and lasted for about a year, didn’t win the Tony for best musical, but it did win a Grammy for best musical show album. If anything, it’s amazing to hear Green Day’s politically-charged songs interpreted for the stage.
