“Million Dollar Quartet” dramatizes what is arguably one of the greatest recording sessions in musician history: the session on Dec. 4, 1956 with Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. Featuring hits from all four performers, the musical lasted on Broadway for a little over year. The show, which opened on Broadway in April 2010, is currently playing in Chicago, Las Vegas and has a national tour. Kind of like “Jersey Boys,” “Quartet” falls in line with the jukebox musical formula, tying in the stories of each performer with a songbook that would be on any “Greatest Hits” CD.
