Greta Garbo was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, but at the age of 36, she decided to leave the screen. While some link her retirement to the critical failure of her last film, the 1941 "Two-Faced Women," Garbo claimed that she left the business because she hated the publicity so much. Garbo spent the rest of her life in her New York City home.
