Michelle Dockery, "Downton Abbey"
Tatiana Maslany, "Orphan Black"
Keri Russell, "The Americans"
Expect some newcomers to crash this race. Claire Danes, last year’s winner for “Homeland”, will be back, as will Julianna Margulies of “The Good Wife” and perennial nominee Elisabeth Moss of “Mad Men.” Filling out the remaining slots should be Connie Britton—previously nominated here for “Friday Night Lights”—for the first season of “Nashville.” Also, though “Scandal” is viewed as more of a soap opera, there’s no denying Kerry Washington’s great work in the lead. And Robin Wright did excellent work in “House of Cards.” The real dark horse is Taiana Maslany, giving one of the best performances on television in “Orphan Black”—the question is whether enough voters have seen the British series. Another Brit, Michelle Dockery of “Downton Abbey,” could earn her second nod. And keep your eye on Keri Russell as a KGB spy in “The Americans.”
