4. Kara Hayward, “Moonrise Kingdom”

Hayward is a bit different from the other actors in that she has Focus Features behind her film. But while they are rightfully aiming for a SAG Ensemble nomination, the excellent Hayward shouldn’t be overlooked in the lead category. Only 13 years old, she embodies all the pain and joy of first love, while never going cutesy or cloying. And if anyone needs to cast a young Amy Adams, Hayward is your girl.
