4. “The Godfather Part II” (1974)

In “The Godfather,” Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) passed leadership of his mafia empire to his son, Michael (Al Pacino). In “The Godfather Part II,” viewers get to travel back in time and see how Vito (now played by Robert deNiro) came from Sicily to New York and established his organized crime ring. The American Film Institute ranks “The Godfather Part II” as the thirty-second best movie of all time, and the film was also the first sequel (or prequel) to win best picture at the Oscars.
