4. Village Halloween Costume Ball

Theater for the New City’s annual Halloween festival—which began in 1977 and takes credit for originating New York’s famous Village Halloween Parade—takes over the theater and its entire East Village block Oct. 31 for a night of indoor and outdoor cabaret and theater performances, ballroom dancing, drinks, a costume competition, and more.
