3. Miss Honey in “Matilda” (1996)

From her neglectful, self-interested parents (Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman) to her tyrannous school principal, Ms. Trunchbull (Pam Ferris), six-year-old Matilda’s (Mara Wilson) world is ridden with evil adults. But her first-grade teacher, Miss Honey (Embeth Davidtz), changes all that. Unlike the other adults in Matilda’s life, Miss Honey appreciates Matilda’s vast intellect and pushes her academically. The two become great friends, and even work together to take down the evil Ms. Trunchbull. At the end of the film, Miss Honey proves that she really is the coolest teacher by adopting Matilda, thereby rescuing her from her horrible family.
