10. Scott Shepherd in “Gatz”

Merely the daunting length of narrating “The Great Gatsby” in its entirety would distinguish Shepherd’s epic portrayal of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s first-person stand-in, Nick Carraway. But his Obie Award–winning tour de force in REDCAT’s presentation of Elevator Repair Service’s production came into bas-relief as he stopped reading and seamlessly entered the role.
