7. Melora Marshall in “Measure for Measure” and “Heartbreak House”

For pure versatility, no single actor I saw in L.A. commanded more awe than Marshall, whose overlapping repertory roles at Theatricum Botanicum—a convincingly gender-switched Lucio in Shakespeare’s seriocomic social treatise and an authoritative Hesione Hushabye in Shaw’s antiwar fantasia—seemed like two different thespians.
