9. Marco Naggar in “New Jerusalem”

Despite the thunderously gripping performers who played the accusers and defenders, David Ives’ study of the heresy trial of Baruch de Spinoza at Pico Playhouse rose and fell on its accused hero. Naggar more than succeeded in the role; to all intents and purposes he was Spinoza, to devastating effect.
