8. Aasif Mandvi in “Disgraced”

I’ve admired Mandvi’s compelling acting in a variety of roles on stage and screen, but in Ayad Akhtar’s trenchant and treacherous new play at Lincoln Center Theater, Mandvi recognized his opportunity and seized it. As a self-hating, hard-charging ex-Muslim corporate lawyer, Mandvi crucially kept the audience’s sympathy. He was terrific.
