“I was working in Sydney on another show last year and the pilot script came through. It was the best script. The world, with all this technology we’ve been talking about, has shrunk. So I’d been putting lots of tapes down and sending them over. And this was one of the first ones that I read and thought, ‘Uff. I really want to be involved with that.’ So naturally I assumed that I wouldn’t be. But I put a tape down anyway. Timing-wise, they had somebody they were looking at and it fell through. Forty-five minutes after that, Greg Yaitanes, the showrunner, saw the tape and said ‘Yep.’ HBO flew me over, we did a screen test, and that was it. It was a really streamlined process.”
