“Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator, had seen ‘Anything Goes’ on Broadway and known me from my New York work. I was just a huge fan. So we met in New York, and I was in between shows and had to eat. I was sitting across from her eating chicken fingers, and she wasn’t eating. I was really excited, and being a superfan, and I think she thought I was really weird. She had the pilot, but ABC Family hadn’t picked up yet, but she was thinking of me for the part. And two weeks later she called and wanted me to read the script and fly out and meet with the network. I was the only person they flew out. So I read for them, they cast me, and I cried.”
