While Affleck is a sure-fire Oscar nominee for his directing, that doesn’t mean his excellent performance in the film should be overlooked. Playing real-life CIA operative Tony Mendez, who concocts the scheme to free six Americans trapped in Iran, Affleck is smart, determined, and all too real. Affleck heads an impressive ensemble cast and, much like Mendez, leads it effortlessly.
