8. Anthony Hopkins, “Hitchcock”

Hopkins won an Oscar for creating an icon that has spawned three more films, an upcoming television show, and a hit parody musical. But taking on a legend like Alfred Hitchcock still has to be intimidating. Hopkins, clad in a fat suit to mimic the filmmaker’s form and demeanor, nails not only the accent but the dry humor of Hitchcock, who fears he’s become irrelevant at the age of 60. He also shares a fantastic chemistry with Helen Mirren as his beloved but put-upon wife, Alma, who he suspects is carrying on an affair. In Hopkins’ able hands, this Hitch is clever, aggravating, and wickedly fun.
