3. Mr. Anderson in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” (2012)
Rudd plays Mr. Anderson in this touching coming-of-age film, which opened Sept. 21. Mr. Anderson is the protagonist Charlie’s English teacher, and recognizes Charlie’s intelligence and passion for literature on the first day of school. Throughout the year he gives Charlie extra books to read – books that were his favorites when he was Charlie’s age. In doing so, he becomes a valued friend and ally to Charlie in the scary world that is high school. Cue the endearingly awkward scene at the end of the film when Charlie gives Mr. Anderson a hug on the last day of school. Awwwww! (Photo by Summit Entertainment)
