3. Queen Latifah

Queen Latifah also started off as a rapper, releasing her first album at age nineteen. In 1993 Latifah made her acting debut on Fox sitcom "Living Single" and had recurring roles on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." Latifah caught the attention of the acting world in 2002‘s "Chicago.” Her role earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress, making her the only female hip-hop artist to receive an Oscar nomination for acting. But Latifah released her ninth album in 2009, not forgetting her musical roots, unlike many actors who leave their recording past behind.
