2. Dr. Gregory House, “House, M.D.”

Okay, so he might be totally cynical, self-obsessed, and unsympathetic to patients, but there’s something undeniably likeable about Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie). House, whose character was inspired by Sherlock Holmes, is the Chief of Diagnostic Medicine at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey. His job frequently involves the detective-like work of identifying the obscure illnesses that are producing his patients’ seemingly bizarre symptoms. So why are viewers so drawn to him? Maybe it’s his signature cane, or maybe it’s that he doesn’t stand for any nonsense, or maybe it’s the fact that he’s just so attractive.
