Sometimes lost in all the praise heaped on Louis C.K.’s writing and formal derring-do as a showrunner is how good an actor he’s turned out to be. “Louie” is one of TV’s funniest shows—but it’s also often not funny for very long, very uncomfortable moments. It takes a skilled actor to pull that off. C.K. is such an actor.
