With music and lyrics by Harry Connick, Jr., “Thou Shalt Not” seemed like it had potential. But from the get-go, bad luck plagued this show. First, its previews started shortly after September 11, which might have been okay, had the show not featured a musical number in a morgue. Then, on opening night, principal actor Craig Bierko was hit in the larynx during a fight scene, sending him on vocal rest for two and a half weeks. Shortly after his return, principal Kate Levering sprained her ankle. The show closed on Jan. 6, 2002, after 85 performances.
