To be fair, there aren't a plethora of great roles for African-American women out there. But that doesn't excuse "Gothika," "Perfect Stranger," "New Year's Eve," and especially "Catwoman." And when Berry attempted to do serious fare, the results were even worse. "Things We Lost in the Fire" and "Frankie and Alice" were painful in their sincerity. But Berry has a great sense of humor. Just watch her accepting her Razzie Award for "Catwoman." Aand the upcoming comedy "Movie 43" looks promising. Also, "Cloud Atlas," though divisive, reminded us how good Berry can be. Here's hoping there are more performances like her winning turn in "Monster's Ball" in her future.
