Marcia Gay Harden’s stage role gets stolen yet again in Roman Polanski’s film adaptation of the French play “God of Carnage.” Harden starred as Penelope Longstreet in the 2009 Broadway production of the French play in which a civil discussion between two pairs of parents explodes into chaos. In Polanski’s 2011 film Jodie Foster plays Harden’s original role, earning her a Golden Globe nomination. Harden may not have won the Tony for “Angels in America” or revived her critically acclaimed Broadway roles on screen, but she did take home the Tony for her role in “God of Carnage” and earned a Drama Desk Award nomination.
