The game was released in 1985, and in 1992, the game morphed into a campy, cheesy but expected film. Starring the adorable Bob Hoskins and a young John Leguizamo as Mario and Luigi and a devilish Dennis Hooper as King Koopa, “Mario” lovers got a backstory they never anticipated.
