Mel Brooks’ “The Producers,” itself an adaptation of his 1968 film, won a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards, including best musical. The 2005 movie musical adaptation included original Broadway stars Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane, and the Oscars’ producers should be begging them to come back for the incredibly silly “Springtime for Hitler,” to complement potential “Les Miz” selection “Master of the House.”
