SAG-AFTRA actor Sean McCracken knows his comedy. After landing the hilarious role of the father in the series “Bad Friends & Family,” McCracken can’t help but smile about his role. “[In the show] I’m trying to prove I’m still hip and relevant despite my age and sex life coming up short, even if it means embarrassing my son to keep the attention.”
After landing the role via a Skype audition, the opportunity to develop his father-figure character proved to be further rewarding. “The director was kind enough to allow me to rework a few lines. This is so crucial for the actor—to feel connected to the character, the things that character would say or intentionally create,” he says. “Sometimes the director or writer allows you to own the material…[I’m] grateful he allowed input.”
For McCracken, checking in with Backstage has become a daily routine. “Honestly, had I known the power of this resource, I would’ve joined on day one—it works. There’s a quality in how the breakdowns are presented and the ease of submitting via the site.”
Here’s to many more laughs from McCracken!
