Sinclaire Schaefer has hit the ground running. The day after permanently moving from Florida to Los Angeles, the actor promptly booked a short film with Ghetto Film School Los Angeles through Backstage.

“It was such a pleasant surprise to find that I had booked my very first audition since moving here!” exclaims the actor, who browses Backstage listings and content daily.

Auditions for “Me, Myself, and Pride,” the short film by Ghetto Film School Los Angeles student Chantal Serrano, involved a surprising amount of nonverbal improvisation. “Actors were given a list of several situations and characters to choose from for a nonspeaking, physical improv,” explains Schaefer. The movie tackled coming out and self-acceptance, themes she was personally drawn to as an actor. “Each character, no matter the circumstance, has some strength or desire that drives them forward, and I love finding that hidden bravery in every character I choose to take on.”

Being surrounded by artists who shared that sentiment during the shoot reminded Schaefer of why she fundamentally loves acting. “Nothing makes me happier,” she says, “than finding projects produced by people who truly believe in and treasure the art involved in the piece.”

Congratulations, Sinclaire!
