Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain, Oscar-nominated for her role in “Zero Dark Thirty,” says that upon reading the script for the latter, “I knew from page two that I had to be a part of this film.” Chastain was speaking to an audience of Backstage readers and SAG Foundation members following a screening of the film where she was joined by director Kathryn Bigelow, writer Mark Boal, and co-stars Jason Clarke, Jennifer Ehle, and Edgar Ramirez. The film, about the hunt for Osama bin Laden, was shrouded in secrecy, and Chastain detailed how “it was like being on a secret mission” just to read the script. Asked about why the film was kept so tightly under wraps, Boal joked, “It seemed like a good idea at the time” before elaborating on the need for such security.
