Jennie Snyder Urman's "First Cut" finds its rock star heart surgeon.

The CW’s hospital drama pilot, “First Cut,” has just landed its rock star heart surgeon.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Necar Zadegan has joined the pilot as Gina. She’ll play a late-30s no-nonsense surgeon described as having a hard exterior, a lack of patience, a big ego and -- this goes without saying -- she’s intimidating to boot.

Written by executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman (“Gilmore Girls”) and produced by CBS Television Studios, the drama with comedic elements revolves around a newly minted doctor, excited to leave her nerdy past behind for a fresh start in the adult professional world. But, she learns that life at the hospital where she works isn't much different than her high school experience.

The pilot is also executive produced by Dan Jinks (“Pushing Daisies”) with Bharat Nalluri set to direct.

Zadegan joins already announced cast members Mamie Gummer, Justin Hartley, Michael Rady, Kelly J. McCreary, and Aja Naomi King.

The Iranian-American actress and former model played the recurring role of Dalia Hassan on the final season of Fox’s “24.” She also played Isabel on NBC’s now-shuttered “The Event.” Her other TV appearances include “Harry’s Law,” “A Gifted Man,” “Undercovers,” and “Outlaw.” Her film credits include “Joshua Tree,” “Unthinkable,” and “Elena Undone.”

She is represented by APA, Ovadia Talent, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
