Lynn Kressel and Kevin Kuffa will cast "Chicago Fire," a drama project from Universal Television and Wolf Films. Plot specifics are scarce, but the show will focus on a group of Chicago firefighters, and not the 1871 disaster (or the professional soccer team). The New York–based Kressel, who has cast all three "Law & Order" series, is temporarily relocating to Los Angeles to cast the pilot, which will then shoot in Chicago this spring.
Another drama, "County," also from Universal Television, will be cast by Carrie Audino and Laura Schiff. The pilot, about a group of doctors and administrators who struggle to provide quality care at a drastically underfunded L.A. hospital, will shoot in mid March. Schiff/Audino also casts "AMC's "Mad Men" and the CW's "Nikita."
The following three comedy pilots have also picked up casting directors: "Go On" and "Animal Kingdom," both from Universal Television; and "Downwardly Mobile," from 20th TV.
"Mobile" marks Roseanne Barr's return to primetime as the proprietor of a trailer park who is constantly putting out fires (figuratively, for the most part) started by her colorful collection of tenants. Risa Bramon Garcia is charged with finding actors talented enough to keep up with Barr. The show is scheduled to shoot in mid April.
"Go On," about a sportscaster who is forced to attend group therapy sessions, will be cast by Susie Farris. And "Animal Kingdom," a workplace comedy set in an animal hospital, where the staff must deal with ill-tempered pets and their even more ill-tempered owners, will be cast by Lisa Miller Katz. Neither project has a definite start date.
